North Lake Sunset

This is from a photo that I took at Sunset at the Beach in Naples at the end of our street. (North Lake) The first one is a pastel on pastelmat and the second is gouache on a black board

I googled then embellished this scene in Downtown Naples. Can't wait to take my own photos.

Shell 2 is a smaller painting. I will add more information on these in the comment section later.

Naples

I have become inspired by shells in Naples. This is Shell 1. I need a more creative name. Help me! I think this is a 9X12 but may be 8x10. on Pastel mat. I will have to check.

Cousins on the Beach

This is a pastel on velour board, painted from a photo taken at the beach. I look forward to doing more Florida art. This will be a gift, so NFS. Prints will be available.

New Home in Naples

This is a pastel house portrait of our new home in Naples. Had great time with the kids there for Memorial weekend. Looking forward to more good times.

Winner 1st Place Landscape, Honorable Mention

"Lago Vista" won 1st Place in the Henderson County Art Show. It is a view of Lake Michigan at Bell's? Beach in Charlevoix, Michigan We spent a week at the Sequenota Club last summer. Hard to believe summer is here again. We have been really busy this year with travel to Nashville to see kids and to Naples, Florida where we purchased a house in Old Naples. This painting was sold, but there are prints. I also sold my winner from last year "Arboretum Artistry" along with my egret painting, and some small paintings and prints along with several boxes of notecards. I did well considering tornados hit our neighborhood and the Athens area on Friday night and I left Saturday morning with no power at our house not knowing the situation at the Cain Center. Most people were busy with clean up so our show did not do as well as normal. Hope to see people at our future shows, or I have art, cards and prints at my home and at the Burger and Chop House in Athens.

Well, the picture of me and my pastel portrait of "Rebecca" Lost Girl of Sudan inserted in the "wrong" place. So glad she won an honorable mention. There was lots of competition in this catagory. Any, sale of any of my African art will include a donation to the "Dark Exodus Women's Foundation" to help the girls living in the Dallas area. Be sure to read the moving book "Dark Exodus" by Beverly Parkhurst Moss.

I forgot I had never posted this 11x14 Acrylic of "Talavera Suns" It is framed in a nice Southwestern frame and is at the Burger and Chop House in Athens.

This is a portrait of Anna ans Dallas that I did after my class. I do animal, house, and people Commissioned portraits, now that I have the confidence to try people.

This is an 8x10 acrylic of a girl and her baby from Sudan. She looked so happy but was living in a refugee camp.

This is "Rebecca" The Lost Girl who spoke to our group. It is a 9x12 pastel unframed at this time, but I may enter it in the April show at the Cain Center in Athens. (the weekend of April 23)

I took an art workshop from Maureen Killaby and learned so much about pencil/graphite drawing. We all did this girl from Africa. She is 18x24 on paper. Our Bible study sponsered a program on The Lost Girls of Sudan and I would like to donate half the sales of any of the African art to the Dark Exodus Womans Foundation. I will post a link for you to check our Beverly Parkhurst Moss's book about the girls now living in Dallas.

"Becker Winery" 8x10 unframed pastel. Stop and sip one for me.

"The Artsy Bunkhouse" 12x16 framed pastel. This is where the artists bunked.

"Cypress Creek" a 12x15 framed pastel painted at Dena's ranch. Fall and beautiful, except for the snake.

"Susan's Hideaway" a 16x20 unframed pastel on board. This was from my workshop at the ranch.

This 11x14 pastel went from blah, blah, blah to "Baa, baa, baa" with the addition of Jake and 3 sheep. It is unframed and on a textured board.

"Dena's Barn" 11x14 pastel, unframed on board. I need to do a new scan as the original was improved and now has some daisies in the foreground.

"Dena's Ranch" 12x16 pastel Framed and hanging on my wall, but ready for yours.

"Gate's Open" 9x12 pastel on wallis paper. This is a view at Dena's Ranch outside Marble Falls. I have done 2 Pastel workshops there with Susan Oglive and more recently with Bob Rohm. I will post a few more from those workshops and photos I took there.

"Texas Blues" , a 16x20 pastel on gaterfoam ready for you to frame. Photo was taken in the hill country close to Marble Falls. Its sister painting is framed "Bluebonnet Reflections"

"Low Water Bridge Acrylic" This is an 8x10 acrylic from a photo taken in Horseshoe Bay. I have also done a pastel of this. There is a golf hole at the back..I can add the flag for ya if you want.

"Road to Llano" 11x14 acrylic. We were on our way to eat BBQ in Llano from my sister's place in Horseshoe Bay. It is framed and ready to hang.

This is "Rio Grande Vista Acrylic" 8x10 on gallery wrapped canvas. I also did this in pastel. (6x9) We cross the Rio Grande to get to my sister's house in El Paso...still Texas. This is also at the Burger and Chop House...available.

This is an 8x10 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. "Nan's Steer" I took the photo at the Creel's library benefit party. The original is at the Burger and Chop House in Athens waiting for a buyer, along with quite a few of my other paintings.

"Lago Vista" a 12x18 Pastel framed and ready to hang. This is the beach on Lake Michigan where we would go for picnics.

This is the cottage next door "Sequanota Club" It is a 9X12 pastel on wallis paper. The bridge goes to the dining hall/clubhouse. We would wait for the bell to ring and head up for lunch or dinner. On Sunday evening we would have Vespers and then head to the beach on the big lake for a picnic.

This is "Kiteley's Market" a 9x12 Pastel on Wallis paper. The original has an added sunflower at the suggestion of my art buddies. Kiteley's had wonderful red and black raspberries. We went often to pick. They also had beautiful flowers and arrangements.

These are the flowers that Emily had waiting for me...along with fresh picked berries from Kiteley's Market. This is "Kiteley's Flowers" a 9x12 Pastel on Wallis paper.

We rented a cottage at the Sequanota Club in Charlevoix Michigan last summer down from our friends the Beynons. Beautiful..and cool. This was the view from our cottage "Cottage View" 8x10 Pastel on gaterfoam.

These are mini paintings. Acrylic on black paper. One is "The Carmel Mission Mini" and the other is "Blue Gate Mini"

These Roosters were at Grant's farm in St. Louis. They make a nice pair. 8x10 acrylic. Grant's Farm has a tram that takes you to see General Grant's cabin, wildlife, animal shows, the Clydesdales, and free beer at the end.

We went to St. Louis this fall and met the McCloskeys for Anna's fall break. Julia,their German Exchange student was with them. We had lots of fun doing tourist things (The arch, Grant's farm, The Magic house, etc.) This is "The Arch" Acrylic and Ink on Black paper. 8x10. I love how bright the colors look against the black.

Well, we don't have rocks and reeds in front of our place and maybe the water isn't this blue-green, but we do have lots of egrets and herons. This is "White Egret" 8x10 Acrylic on Black mat board. At least our lake is full and it is beautiful waking up in the morning and seeing all the wonderful wildlife.

Belated Blog and New Art

This pastel is from a photo I took at Joe T. Garcias where out group had dinner. It was a beautiful evening on the patio. Not quite sure why I attempted something so complicated. It is 24x18 on Wallis pastel board. "Joe T. Garcias"
