It's a winner! 1st Place!
I am so excited! My first juried art show (81st Annual Henderson County Art Show) and I won a First Place for my pastel "Arboretum Artistry" This is from a photo I took at the Athen's Arboretum. I also won a Merchant's Award and the People's Choice Award! Another painting won an Honorable Mention. This is still available...for $200. Must be worth more after all the awards? 16x20 framed in a simple black frame with glass. I also sold about 20 boxes of notecards. Boxes of 8 with 4 designs sell for $10. I will post those later. This design is part of the Texas Blues collection.

Artist Statement
My artwork is created through the love and inspiration of The Creator and from the desires He created in me to express my love and appreciation of His art in nature and life. Through the use color and composition I desire to draw the viewer into the painting. The color and drawing is not photo realism, but warmed or cooled and drawn by my desires to express myself, usually bright expressing my joy. Joy to me is my focus: Jesus, Others and You (Me) in that order. One of my favorite verses is Nehemiah 8:10 “The JOY of the Lord is my strength.”
The desire to express myself through art started when I picked up my first box of crayons and continued as I attended Southern Methodist University and majored in art education, continuing, as I shared my love of art with young children and middle schoolers in teaching them to express themselves….sharing tools, techniques and creativity. Today, my desire is to inspire others to use their God given creative talents. I like this quote by James Dobson, “I will consider my earthly existence to have been wasted unless I can recall a loving family, a consistent investment in the lives of people, and an earnest attempt to serve the God who made me. Nothing else makes much sense.”
Psalm 103 2-5 “Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Gerry Crow Roeder
I began as a Crow, now soar as an Eagle!
